# international applicant

does anyone know the data on international applicants??? how many apply each year? i know that internationals comprise 14% of the 500 freshman. thanks

i dont know how many applied but i did. so at least there is one.

haha...and me too...so thats 2

The data on how many have applied previous year does not apply this year. Three times as many international ED applicants this year as the year before. Most likely a function of Penn's improved standing in the US News & World Report rankings. "International student applications more than tripled, skyrocketing from last year's 104 to this year's 391." <a href="http://www.dailypennsylvanian.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2004/12/08/41b6b6060f931%5B/url%5D">http://www.dailypennsylvanian.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2004/12/08/41b6b6060f931</a>
This increase in international applications is also likely to have greatly affected the amount of regular applicants.

For internationals, all bets are off.

And they are around 9% of the incoming class of 2500. <a href="http://www.princetonreview.com/college/research/profiles/studentbody.asp?listing=1024005&LTID=1&intbucketid=%5B/url%5D">http://www.princetonreview.com/college/research/profiles/studentbody.asp?listing=1024005&LTID=1&intbucketid=</a></p>

thanks snipanlol

who cares, i applied and lets just wait... u penn would be dead dull without us int'ls

hmmmmmmmm doesn't look very promising does it? Who applied for finaid as int'ls here?

i didnt, or else there'd really be no chance at all. i honestly wonder no intl would unless he's got a 1600 or sth

Upenn says it gives 50 intls financial aid

but unless you're ultra poor n ultra good

i didnt apply for fa cuz it'll hurt my decisions. it sucks..such discrimination towards int'ls! haha. but yea, i'm int'l too:)

"Upenn says it gives 50 intls financial aid" -- akashbansal

What's the link to the website where you got this?

By the way, am I considered an international? I'm Canadian.

I didnt get this from the website-the Upenn adcom who came to school handed out fliers with FAQ on financial aid which mentioned this.

Also-"We maintain a policy of need-blind admissions for citizens and permanenet residents of USA,Canada and Mexico-this is from the "Information for International candidates" booklet

other info

Upenn has 839 international undergraduate students from 96 countries-so I wud say they accept atleast 200 internaional students every year

yessssss....being canadian might just save my a s s

does anyone have a school by school break down?

i applied for aid but then withdrew it this yr.... no pt lowering already absymal chances :D

the tuition is expensive but i think its worth it.

though i spent quite a while to convince my parents hahaha

which other schools did u int'ls apply to?

umm, harvard and mit (rejected :o )

if any of you have questions I'm currently a freshman intl student from Mexico...very few of the internationals i know are on financial aid the only ones i know are from canada and mexico because penn guarantees aid for students from those countries. The majority of the internationals at penn are ultra ultra wealth...most come from influencial and powerful families in their countries (top business people, politicians, etc.). Well at least the latin american, african and european students. Not so much the asian students...
