Which country are you from, Loislin?

I'm from China. and since it's a stats thread:
SAT I: 750CR,800M,750W Toefl(pbt): 650 TWE:6.0
SATII: Math2 800 Physics 800 Chemistry 730
top 5% grades,good recs
EC: editor in chief, founder of one society and several active memberships, piano

Oberlin stood out in my college choices for it's a prestigious liberal arts college offering great academics, its commitment to the society(since its special historic standing) and the art vibrancy etc.
I think my Y Oberlin essay was good because I truly want to be a member of this school. And so I'm looking forward to meeting you guys who applied to Oberlin for some of the same reasons. Hope to see you there.:)

Yeah, I applied for aid. I'm grateful they made my Oberlin education affordable.

Well, nice to meet you :)

did anyone else get an email from an oberlin admissions officer?

letter about what ??
d**n I missed the chat session. completely forgot, and the funny thing is it was just an hour ago!
anyways....i hope you guys went....what was it like??

builtfordakill76--some of us are still waiting for confirmation letters..lol (I got mine though)

I haven't even got a confirmation letter yet......

The chat was great.

I got a confirmation.

Arit, email Oberlin again.

they must have received my app as I did get the chat invite......no confirmation though.....
And plus they did say that they will inform me if something is missing.....

"And plus they did say that they will inform me if something is missing....."

Well I think that's what they mean by confirmation. I too got one of those general messages...if that's not it.....I too haven't got my confirmation yet!!(lol!) So don't worry about that..

Wow, you guys are so amazing.

Oh goddamnit, I wrote a general four-sentence answer to "why Oberlin" having something to do with "oh gosh, well my professor thinks it's a fit, so --". Ughh. I'm a transfer student, to make matters worse. It never occurred to me they wanted more than a very brief paragraph to complement the actual transfer essay.

.<. Well, you should've written more. I wrote three paragraphs with an analogy and lots and lots and lots of specifics.

Why are we so amazing?

"Wow, you guys are so amazing."......I 'm ....flattered....
Hey I too wrote a general "why oberlin" essay (Same for all other colleges I applied)...was about three paras...but nothing specific...

Urgh.

I want to go to Oberlin soo bad. I wanna apply to attend fall '09
I am gonna apply here ED I believe, but do you think this will increase or decrease my chances(more competitive pool etc)?

I haven't yet taken the SAT but from what I've heard expect around 2100-300

I have 4 As 1 A* 3B's and 2 D's at GCSE
transcript Gpa equivalent will be essentially straight A's and occasional B's

At A level I am taking Art, Eng Lit, Philosophy and Religious Studies, in a highly selective grammar school.

My EC's are good including touring in a band nationwide, and high positions in various book film and fiction clubs as well as other arty filmy sort of things.
I am so frickin nervous. Even tho its still ages until Im even meant to start THINKING about applying : /

What did you put in your "why oberlin" essay? Im scared when I do it I will go too eccentric or flamboyant which is common when I write stuff of my opinion
: /

So what did you successful people's essays look like.

I'm from England and am focused heavily on english and art and music and only kinda satisfactory at maths and sciences, does this stint my chances?
