International Applicatants 2010 Acceptance Tracker

Sorry for the typo in the title. International students are a different pool of applicants in many schools. It may help to know how your peers in the same pool are doing.

I wanted to start this thread. =P
Please tell us where you’re from(at least…under-represented or over-represented) and your FA status(I assume most of you didn’t apply for it).

Thanks so much!!! Yay!!!

Stay positive!!!

Go ahead, gonnastop. Create a new one.

Haha no, I won’t steal yours hehe. I’m on my iPod so it’s not really fast to start a thread.

I’m applying next year btw.

Post your results here!!!

I’ll post, though I have yet to hear from Hotchkiss and Andover…

Wow I can see the difference :expressionless:

There are 6 more schools that I don’t know yet, some don’t give decision by email/phone, so it’ll take me awhile to figure out.

I´ll post my nationailty and my results as soon as I have received them all. I´m an international applicant for almost full FA and I am so far rejected by Exeter, SPS and Lawrenceville.

The way it works is you come back and update the list as you receive more decisions.

I searched through CC and found (heard about) extremely few international students who got accepted with more than 50% or full financial aid. Even this year, so far, I have found no international student accepted with considerable amount of aid. Everyone seems to be waitlisted or rejected and I am beginning to wonder whether if Andover is really need-blind to international students and if boarding schools that say they offer financial aid to international students really do offer aid. There might be the exceptional ones but it seems to be extremely rare.
I asked Andover if it is need-blind to international students and the officer said it is need-blind to every applicant including internationals. If Andover really is need-blind, then how come there have been veeeeeeery few internationals who got into boarding schools with aid? I will never believe in the term need-blind again. Anyone to refute and help me gain my hope back (for possible future applications to need-blind colleges and more)?
Also, are the other schools talking about around 2000$ for an aid to international students instead of a full one?

My list of waitlist is just getting longer :frowning:

know what?? it appears to me that boarding schools are after all just exclusive to those who are exceptionally talented or extremely well-off to afford such amounts of money w/out aid. It’s true that getting to a fine BS in the US is really hard and tough, yet the results are even more heart-breaking. I’m not saying this for myself ('cos I apply to only one school with little hope, lol) but I just want to make everybody know how “cruel” an acceptance may be to us- international students…

There were 5 kids who got in with full aid from China. But they all applied before 2008, before the financial crisis. Yeah, so I’m just hoping that the economy can get better this year.

I applied to 7 schools.

Country: Taiwan/America

One question - did any intl students receive reject or acceptance letters from Deerfield yet? I’m from Asia and it still hasn’t come. Is no news good news or is it the end?

I have 2 friends who were rejected/waitlisted at DA. They received e-mails on March 10.

You should’ve heard from the school, whether you’re accepted or not.

Anyways, I’m not applying this year—so BUMP for you!
