My short knowledge is that Amherst does not accept AP credit, probably due to the open curriculum thing. If that is the case, I cannot see how IB test scores apply either. As an IB student myself, this does not give me any motivations as to do well on these tests. Senioritis yay

(but don't take my word for it, all I remember is reading some FAQ portion of the Amherst webpage and might be just totally wrong.)

From the website - some departments will allow you to skip introductory classes, but no credit will be given.

Thank you for your replies. Sadly I think my son has the same mentality as you Deanchhsw. Well at least his senior year will be more relaxed.

Sad indeed. My expected score for IB history is 7 but I probably would end up getting like a five or something with zero preparation. As for IB Math HL I've completely forgotten how to do more complex integrations and differentiations..and I tremble at the sound of sigmas. I wouldn't care if I get like a four, nor would I care if I get a certificate at all. If I was a diploma student things would change a little bit because I would still want that diploma, but at this juncture it makes no sense to get sixes and sevens.

Right now, I am just drooling at the idea of getting out of school early because of IB tests. Yes, I am shallow. (sigh).

I swear I read somewhere on their website before that if one gets full IB diploma with certain grade, entire IB credits will be given.
For some reason, i cannot find it now.
