(international)chances of getting into schools like hypsm, ivy league schools and uc schools

hey there
i am a year 19year old male from singapore currently serving the first year of my 2yr conscription
i am interested in computerscience , business
preferably i would like to go to harvard, mit, princeton and schools on the east coast over the westcoast

i have yet taken my SATs yet but i am expecting to get 800 for my math 700for critical reading and probably 600/650 for creative writing. i plan to take SAT subject test for Math 2,Physics and either chemistry or world history and would hope to score 800s for them.

and australian mathematics competition
take part in robotics competition( i am good at things like that and i enjoy creating electronics)
probably get an internship in an IT company
take more courses related to computer science

what i am writing for my essay
-how i was demoralised by the bad results in year 10 and resulted into me getting off form in year 11(2012) and realised how much time i wasted and decided to buck up in year 11(2013) by juggling between school work, ECs , alevels , community work and realised that i just have to step up whenever i encounter failure and not just let failure set me back helpless like what happened in year11(2012)

thanks for your help and please do guide me in what more do i have to do to reach my goal

WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!!
FANTASTIC… REALLY FANTASTIC

help please

ok, You have good chances, just remember that the acceptance rate for internationals in elite schools are below 10%… finally i think you should avoid stating achievements in your essay, try being completely you…GOOD LUCK

Your essay topic sounds kind of boring. That’s what struck me about your post. Talk about something interesting, something that you have experienced that no one else in this world has ;)

I agree with AmericanHopee. If you want to stand out against international students, you HAVE to be different. An essay of that content will not make you stand out. Im sure you’ll find something much more unique to speak about. You said youve been conscripted? Talk about that and link it to your goals in some way!

You are from Singapore…a very hot country (climate wise)…and you prefer East Coast (which is very cold in the winter) over West Coast (which has very mild climate year round)…interested in computer science and business…

…it seems you have no idea what you are talking about. Do you even know where Stanford is located? or UCBerkeley? To be frank, if I were you…I wouldn’t even bother to apply to Stanford with your credentials…only the BEST of the BEST from Singapore with the HIGHEST academic/extracurricular achievements should be applying to Stanford…

…I’m afraid you will get a succinct REJECTION. Sorry.
