International chances Wharton 2011 (no finaid)

I’m a real lightweight.

GPA: I’m an international junior (Sweden) but converted my current GPA to 3.6 don’t know if its weighted or unweighted. Got 11 subjects left with predicted A’s on them.
SAT: 680W 680 V 650M - 2010
SAT II: doing WH and math IC june, US history fall, predicting 680’s maybe 700. Most probably going to retake SAT I though.
Rank: N/A but in top 5-10%. Also reading the toughest course load in school.
Ethnicity: Somalian

ECs: only got 3 EC’s that I’m really passionate about;
Founder of an ethnic business association (a couple of firms in it)
Founder of a Habitat for Humanity club with 18 members, fundraising up around 13K and traveling to a european country next spring.
Founder and CEO of a tutoring business (just started but expected to have a good history by fall)

Work experience at an asset management firm 300h+

Not applying for finaid.

Criticism, anything I should work more on etc. Constructive comments would be highly appreciated.

Bumpitibump.

A somalian living in Sweden is a pretty uncommon combination. Both are very unrepresented nationalities at Penn, so you do stand a good chance - especially since you don't need financial aid.

Interesting. More comments are appreciated, don't be shy folks.

You have decent chances, for the same reasons outlined by snipanlol. Try to get your SATs to the 700's.

i agree with Rudess

yes I agree with the URM but his SAT's are too low for Ivy standard I got 800 CR 800 Math, 740 Writing with 3.9 GPA and 800's on most of my SAT II's and I'm sitting here typing in CC hoping Wharton acceptes me off waitlist. and I been hearing class of 2011 will be more competitive then 2010... So good luck!

My SATs are definitely on the low but I'm fairly confident I can pull it up a couple of points (were still talking under 750 though). My GPA will most likely pull up to 3.7 too. Don't really got anything else to show off. Maybe should emphasize my work experience that truly had an impact on me. Any more tips/advice anyone? This really feels like a crapshoot but well see.

Is your business a legal corporation? Does it have employees etc? Is it profitable? Otherwise it really isn't a business and you should write that you are a tutor.

mahras - yes on all your questions. total of 17 employees.

Sounds good. Thats a good operation. Its nice to see a bunch of entrepreneurs actually having real business operations on CC.
