<p>Hi, I am international and these are my stats:
SAT: M:800 V:650
SAT 2: M2: 780 Physics 800 writing 630
Academic awards
9th grade:3rd prize on state competition in physics, 3rd prize on international competition of towns in mathematics
10th grade: 3rd prize on state competition in physics, 3rd prize on national competition in physics
11th grade: 3rd prize on state competition in physics, 3rd prize on national competition in physics, ?Belgrade Angels? award for accomplishments in science for the year 2003
12th grade: ?Belgrade Angels? award for accomplishments in science for the year 2004.</p>
<p>Member of Astronomy club, British Council, MENSA member, volunteered on recent elections.
GPA 4.97 (5.00 max) unweighted. Ranked 1st tenth in my class.
I will probably get great recs.
I am from Europe and my school is one of the best school for mathematics and physics in Europe. Every year students from my High school go to olympics in these fields. Applaying for electrical engineering.
I am applaying for financial aid, and can you please tell me what are my chances for these universities:
Duke
PENN
TUFTS
Johns Hopkins
Washington U in St. Louis
Vanderbilt
Cornell
Columbia
IIT
WPI
Lehigh
Bucknell
Thank you all!</p>
<p>You have a list of very good universities...but not a listof great Engineering programs. You aren't applying to many of the top Electrical Engineering programs. Schools like:</p>
<p>The only top 10 Electrical Engineering program you are applying to is Cornell.</p>
<p>If you prefer smaller schools, check out:
Harvey Mudd College
Rice University
Rose Hulman Institute of Technology</p>
<p>There aren't many Serbian applicants to US universities and your SAT is impressive when you consider that English isn't your first language. If financial aid isn't a concern, you have a great shot at many universities.</p>
<p>Thank you for your reply!
Well I did applay to MIT just I forgot to mention it. I also applayed to Yale and Princeton, but I think that they are out of my reach.
The thing is that I wonted schools which are good in engineering and also have fairly good departments for other stuff, like astronomy, and I couldnot get that at schools which are the best in engineering.</p>
<p>I think it's very hard to get financial aid from Columbia SEAS as an international...it says on their website that SEAS gives no fin aid awards to int'ls in some years, and even if they do, my guess is that they give less than 10 each year. The need blind schools (Princeton, Yale and MIT) have more funds for internationals requesting financial aid, although the competition is quite keen, too.</p>
<p>Yeah, I know about Columbia, and Princeton, Yale and MIT are probably out of my reach, but who knows. I am hoping i'll get somewhere, anywhere. I just wonted to know what are my chances at the other schools.</p>
<p>Wow Alexandre, "Cornell, Duke, Penn and Columbia are realistic reaches."</p>
<p>I dun think the international pools are that competitive... I'd say Cornell and Duke is a rather match/reach (more lean to match)... Really, his onli weakness is the EC's, which (I think) can be compensated with his national prizes. </p>
<p>But I'm not an adcom and this post may be completely off-track.</p>
<p>Tlqkf2002, a realistic reach is like a match/reach. In orther words, Balac is certainly going to be seriously considered, but the % accepted into those schools is so low, that it is difficult to be a match unless you are perfect. But he does have a great chance.</p>

UMich is ranked in the top ten for engineernig as well as many of the other fields, one of them being astronomy. You should strongly consider UMich.</p>
