International class of '07: Where are you applying?

I thought it would be interesting to see where this year's international students are applying. Please include your nationality, where you live right now, if you are applying early, and anything else you think would be of interest. :)

I'm a Swedish citizen living in Washington, DC, USA. My stats and ECs are [url="<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=2980341%22%5Dhere%5B/url">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=2980341"]here[/url</a>]. I'm not applying early anywhere, so unless I make any last-minute changes this is going to be my list for RD.

Amherst
Brown
Dartmouth
Swarthmore
Williams

University of Chicago
Middlebury

Bryn Mawr
Macalester
Wellesley

I'm a Canadian citizen in Toronto, and I'm going into engineering. Hopefully God goes on my side and gets me into one of my top choices. Colleges in order are:

Stanford
UCBerkeley
UCLA
Georgia Tech
Carnegie Mellon
University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign)
U Michigan
UCSD
Purdue

I think lots of Canadians living in the Ontario area are applying to US schools ....

I guess I'll limit it to the University of Pennsylvania (ED I) and Smith College (ED II). If neither of those accepts me I'll stay in Germany. Almost forgot, I'm a German living in Germany ;-)

I forgot to add that if I don't get into any of the schools I listed, I'll be going to Uppsala University in Sweden. They accept applications until mid-April, though, so hopefully I won't have to apply.

haha....................

UCBerkeley
UCLA
Carnegie Mellon
don't give a cent to intls.just so you know.

Do you mean class 11'?
FYI, the class of 07' is going to graduate next May.

I mean the high school class of '07, which will become the college class of '11.

Cinderella Institute of Technology (ED):)

Yeah, why do int'l keep bumping their heads against stingy schools like UC Berkeley, when there are so many other schools in the south who are willing to give anything to attract international, URM students? (berkeley even says that it will not give ANY financial assistance to int'l students....).

Actually, Berkeley does. I heard they have this vice-chancellor scholarships (which is like full-tuition) for international students but you can't apply for them. They automatically award it to the top international applicants. But apparently it isn't really publicized, I didn't know about it back then too...

woebegone, any source?

I'm a Venezuelan student in Caracas. I'll be applying to:
Freshman: Harvard, Yale, Brown, La Sorbonne
Transfer: Uchicago, JHU, Gtown, Grinnell, American, Gwashington
If I'm not admitted anywhere (Which is sad but likely) I'll stay and continue studying here..sniff..

Any Canadians in here going to the Ivy League & Stanford information night in Toronto on Sept 27th and 28th?

hey woebegone, I heard about that too.
But it only goes to the TOP, i mean the TOP TOP TOP admitted students - HYP material students usually.. probably to attract them with money so they choose ucb, instead of hyp.

I have already attended the information session held in Vancouber 2 weeks ago

nothing very interesting or useful, all the things they said you can find on internet..but if you have some questions, it should be a great opportunity

vikyflaca

hey are you venezuelan? you guys rock the house! Seriously, your president calling bush the "devil...who smells like sulphur" god that was real laugh:)

yeah, im his biggest fan! "You are donkey, MR BUSH"

lol, yeah that's him...I'm against Chavez though, he's a demagoge (This must be misspelled), but I liked his speech at the UN..not the insults, but the content, finally a bit of honesty at the general assambly

I'm a German and I will apply to LSE, Princeton (as a dream school), Stanford and Washington U in St. Louis.

Prob one German U. as well - but this has time.
