International CSS profile

Hey guys! this is quick Do you guys know what H4 student should put under their citizenship status?
My mom is on H1b Visa and I’m on H4. And on CSS profile guidelines, theres 0 section explaining H visa types.
Is it eligible non citizen? or Non of the above (F1 J1…) ?

Also, can you guys give me a list of colleges that international student can apply for aid .
My stats are bad…actually 2000 sat and 4.17 W gpa. Although green card has been applied- who knows whats going to happen and im applying as an international. Help?

Those are not ‘bad’ stats, please stop saying that to yourself or other students.

I don’t know enough of visa issues to help you, sorry. I think eligible non citizen only applies to green card holders though. You can get all this googling. Many private colleges give aid to international students, but how much you need can be an issue.

Jr or Sr?

senior!

I have alreaady submitted 8 apps but I feel so uncertain right now after hearing one international student applied to 40 colleges and got rejected by all except for 1…problem of being a poor international student (which I am also)

You have been on this board since 2014, I can’t believe you are asking this now when a lot of deadlines have passed. Of course being an international student is a huge disadvantage and you can’t consider you have the same chances as a US student. Of course needing a lot of aid is a huge disadvantage excepting 60 or so schools. I don’t know what to say. You should have been applying to a larger group of schools since you are living in the US. I can’t cross check the ones where deadlines have passed or not at this time. Check back tomorrow for someone else to help.

Under FAFSA definitions, the H4 category does not place you as an eligible non-citizen.

You are “none of the above” because you currently don’t hold a green card, nor are you a permanent resident. Your H4 indicates that you are the child of a worker here on a visa. Check with @B@r!um to double-check.

If you attended and graduated from a High School in US, some states will let you pay in-state tuition for public schools. For example, see https://www.suny.edu/smarttrack/residency/

oh but im from VA lol

You are not eligible for federally funded need based aid. You are not an eligible non-citizen (that would be a green card holder).

You are an international student.
