I am going to be a sophomore at Georgetown University this fall majoring in International Business & Finance and minoring in Economics. I'd like to go to grad school for International Development possibly attain my JD as well with a joint program. So far, I've looked at Harvard's MPP/ID program with the law school. I hope to have a 3.9+ upon graduation, have yet to take my GRE/LSAT; I plan on working towards studying this year. Also, I do NGO volunteer work Internationally for Habitat for Humanity (I plan to change up the organizations a bit in the future), about two locations a year around the world and plan to do a summer program at Oxford University that has a partnership with GTown.

Ideally, I'd like to work in International Finance for a couple years maybe at the World Bank or something of that nature then do non profit work or try to become a diplomat. The Peace Corps in between Undergrad and Grad school has crossed my mind as well. Would an MBA or MA in International Relations be something to think about? What are some good programs for what I would like to do? I know this is all very vague but I'm just starting to put thoughts of grad school in my mind, thanks alot!

All I know about them is that they specifically have a dual JD/international development M.A. program. In other words, exactly what you’re looking for, as far as I understand it. I have no idea if it’s any good or not.

Actually your situation is quite similar to mine. My career goal is to be a Congressman and am considering storngly getting an MPP and JD in a 3 year program. Columbia/Princeton have a joint program as well as Columbia/Columbia Law, the harvard program, NYU law/wagner and a few others

im just not sure if its worth the time/money/stress plus studying for 2 grad placement tests

i might just do MPP since its 2 years but hopefully do it at harvard

@LauraN thanks looks like something to look into!

yea, Harvard looks like the most appropriate way to go about things, but Columbia’s location in NYC or even staying at GTown might be beneficial. Harvard’s program is a full four years which would mean 8 years of schooling, I’m not sure if that is right for me just yet. The two tests will also be quite a task haha
