So I was checking out some textbooks online and came across something called "International Edition" textbooks that are for a cheaper price. Other people said that the contents and problems are exactly the same, just that it has a cheaper paper quality. I was wondering is it worth it to buy those books and am I able to resell it after I am done with the quarter?

Oh! And where do you guys usually buy textbooks?

The book is usually made in cheaper quality, the pages might be numbered differently, and some of the problems are different than the ones from the actual book. It really depends on the book whether its worth it or not. Reselling it will also be harder than with the actual textbook.

Check out bigwords.com, facebook, or uloop for books.

Give me one good reason why the international edition publishers, who happen to be the same publishers for the US editions, are going to spend any effort to do that.

I buy my books on Half.com and Amazon.

I dont have to give you a good reason why they do that, they just do it. It might not even be a different problems, just rearranged and numbered differently. Not all of them are like this, some are identical. But don’t be surprised if there is variation.

I’ve bought plenty of international versions before, surprisingly, it happens quite often. The word problems are the exact same except the interchangeable variables in the problem are sometimes substituted out. Eg. Instead of 7.5 you have 5.5 or instead of finding amps, you find voltage. It’s actually not that hard to do as they change the digital copy and then reprint it out with the international cover.
