International Engineering Schools (undergrad)?

I’m interested in applying to international schools (I’m from the US) but I don’t know where to start looking. Any suggestions? I plan to study engineering (most likely biomedical, mechanical, or materials science), and have been mostly looking in the UK but I’m up for anything. SAT scores are 2180 (700 math, 710 reading, 770 writing) if that helps. Thanks!

Do u need financial aid?

Financial aid is not a problem!

If you plan on being an engineer in the US then attending an unaccredited school outside of the US and Canada will present problems.

Is that the case with Biomedical Engineering? Is the BME department at Johns Hopkins University ABET accredited?

I just took a look at the ABET list of accredited BME programs. JHU not on it. Of course, ABET approval would be critical in the more traditional engineering fields of Mechanical, Chemical and Electrical.

Are you looking for an English-language program/school?

If for some reason you look at Germany, be prepared for larger lectures, even at “good” schools, than in the USA. Much larger. Like multiple hundreds of students. Even in higher-level classes.

Delft University (Netherlands)
U of Groningen (Netherlands)
Technical University of Munich (Germany)

For a less competitive admissions, think about Queens University Belfast in the UK. QUB aggressively seeks out international students. Also, the cost of living for a student is much cheaper in Belfast than in England or Scotland.

JHU is accredited for BME (happened recently I believe?). Here’s what the website says http://engineering.jhu.edu/undergraduate-studies/academic-policies-procedures-undergraduate/abet/

Here is what ABET says: http://main.abet.org/aps/AccreditedProgramsDetails.aspx?OrganizationID=30&ProgramIDs=

IMO any school with a decent engineering department will be fine as long as you apply yourself!
