International Financial Aid- Tax problems

Hello! I'm an international student applying for a full scholarship in NYU Abu Dhabi for Fall 2011. The organization who assisted me to apply to NYU in my country stated that in order to be eligible for the scholarship I have to complete the css/financial aid profile.

I have some problems in completing the Profile. I'm living with a single parent who has a very little income that it is not mandatory for us to pay the income taxes in our country. Me and my family never had any insurances, assets, bank statements or any other documents required for the Profile.

I am aware that I will be asked to submit tax forms and/or financial statements to the College Board to verify the data submitted on your financial support application. But I don't think it's possible because my parent works as an unskilled labor, and we never paid income taxes.

can somebody help me with this? Thank You.

If you’re living with one parent and you’re not required to pay taxes, then you should try obtaining your exemption letter, meaning a document/letter/statement which certifies that your income level is way too low and therefore you’re officially exempted from paying any sorts of taxes.
Since you can’t file tax forms, try obtaining a statement from your employer (parent’s employer I mean) which certifies your income/salary, cause that’s also accepted in many cases, and I believe this should be a form which you can obtain.
Also write in the “Explanation/Special Circumstances” section regarding your whole situation, i.e your exemption from taxes and any other necessary details before submitting your PROFILE app.
