International Financial Aid

Hello, i'm an international student and need financial aid. My folks can approximately contibute 30k $ at max but it came to my attention that many schools especially public schools don't give any aid to internationals. So my question is which good schools (for engineering) that might admit me offer FA for international students? (also i think for many schools checking the FA box slims your chances)

My SAT 1 is around 2100.
800 Sat subjects chemistry, physics and math 2.
IELTS 8.5
my yearly average in 9th grade was about 90% but i gradually raised it to 92% in 10th and over 95% in 11th grades (I think i was 2nd in my class in 11th grade)
I have AP physics, chemistry and calculus almost sure they'll be all 5's.
My reccomendations should be excellent judging by the attitudes of my teachers.

For extracurriculars i never started any clubs nor won 1st place in a piano contest or something. But i have been in the soccer club and team for the past 4 years. I play the drums and i paint. I've had several paintings on small exhibitions. I'm also a member of the graphic design club. I also arranged a calendar sale for kids with cancer and will be organizing a summer school this summer for them.

For the essay i have no idea what to write, i don't have a remarkable story and im not really sure what i want to be.

You see, i know i probably won't be able to get in like Harvard or Princeton.. But i'm looking for reasonable suggestions.

What are your SAT CR and Math scores?

CR is like 680 and math is what’s really bothering me since i just can’t get it right!! I took the SAT twice and got 720 max! I’m great at math! I’m like 1st in my calculus class but get an average score on sat math…

If your scores are as listed, then Alabama would give you free tuition plus 2500 per year for engineering…so the awards would be about 110,000…also given to intls.

the app is live now, so get your app in. also submit the scholarship app…it is just a formality, you have the needed scores.

and list an engineering discipline as your major.

Bama has a new and state of the art Science and Engineering Complex. All Eng’g disciplines are ABET accredited.
<a href=“Facilities – College of Engineering | The University of Alabama”>http://eng.ua.edu/buildings/

Are you saying your math is 720? And CR is 680? Just clarifying!

Yes thumper1

Then read Mom2’s post above. Apply to UA.

Ok, i’ll definitely have UA as an option… Any other suggestions?

I think your stats are great, and given that you don’t need much financial aid (compared to others) I think you would have a strong application. I would recommend you to apply to University of Pennsylvania’s school of engineering, Swarthmore College, Cornell University, Columbia University. If you could raise your SAT scores a bit that would be great, but it is already very good. Try out these schools (which are hard to get into but meets full need if admitted) and see what luck you get.

Also write great essays- they are essential

Check the SUNY system and UAlabama system
