Okay, I am applying ED as an international student of South Korea. I came here when i was like 1 and still havent received my green card. Lived here for like 17 years or something i cant remember... Anyways 2250 sat highest/single seating (780 math, 740 reading, 730 writing) math 2c: 800 chem: 780 Catholic school with 670 kids... top tenth percentile. APUSH in junior year and AP Physics, AP CALC, AP GOPO in senior year... all other science classes were honors though aps were available. I took the most advanced math i could throughout hs... Do y'all know of any international student similar to me who got in? Thanks

I forgot to say that i applied for engineering… Also, how are the other international applicants… when cornell says they accept 20% as internationals do they mean international students who currently live in korea or more of kids like me in america without a green card? Thanks…

what did you put down for alternative choice

i put none. will that even affect me?

GPA? ECs? Awards?
Test scores along don’t determine your chances.

Also, if you can’t make a good reasonable guess about yourself I don’t think you are going to give good chances to other people either.

And when they say international, that mean all international who are in and out of the US.

Do you happen to know what other international aplpicants who got in were like in terms of grades and test scores? Thanks

You can ask it in Cornell Forum, but it’s pointless; as an international student, you have to have everything on the top, grades, test, essay and ECs. So. don’t think that you will have good chances because “this international kid has XXX score and X.XX GPA and got in, so I should be okay” because
- Cornell is a reach(a bit easy one though) for everyone
- International kids have it hard than citizens/permanent residents.
- You don’t know how good that person’s essays are, do you?
Also, can you pay?

I

I understand, but Im just curious as to exactly how good in terms of scores i would have to be. Sigh… i see myself attending my community college… But hopefully i will make the most out of my experiences there. Good luck to you!

Could you state your EC’S as well? I would be able to comment better with it. Also, could you chance me back at the link below? Thanks and good luck :)

I just read your stats and I came to the conclusion that this website isnt good for my health… Im pretty sure you would get into cornell atleast. But based on my limited knowledge Harvard would still be slightly a reach for you… My ecs suck compared to yours… Treasurer of USA Chem Olympiad, Head pianist at school and church chorus, NYSSMA All states, all the honor societies in my school though those are useless…, MUNs, and probaably more i just cant remember

Treasurer of usa chem olympiad???

what do your ecs look like paul2752?

I m a college student…and what do u mean by treasurer of chem olympiad?? your ecs arent that bad, just not super impressive for cornell level.

its a small study group outside of school me and four friends made to study for courses in chemistry in our school

its not the actual thing, which i did mention on my app. its just named after the thing because we were hoping to actually participate in that competition. how were your ecs in high school?

Can anyone tell me how an international applicants gpa and sat scores should look like? I just wanna compare my self. Thank yous.

It’s going to be a reach, and you’re a fairly solid applicant so if you can afford it you’ll be all right. That being said,if you can’t afford it (as much as I hate to say it because who likes being the bearer of bad news) I hope you’re deferred to RD or rejected so you’re not stuck trying to back out of the ED commitment due to financial reasons simply because I’ve heard that can be a nightmare. Best of luck either way!

Chance back?

Dude pm me

Internationals don’t have it harder than US citizens since they have to pay 40K/year. Obviously a lot of people don’t seem to understand why universities like internationals.
