International Graduate admission in EECS

<p>I am an Indian student currently in my first year of the undergrad college. I wanted to know about the admission process for Graduate programs at MIT.. i checked the website, it says the site will be accessible by 15 sept.
So apart from high GRE and TOEFL score, what else is required to catch the attention of the admission authorities ?I read a lot about research which is highly desirable from an applicant for a grad program.Any thing else that i can complete/develop/work upon in these four years so that i increase my chances of getting admission?
I also wanted to know the level of difficulty and competition faced by any international applicant for the same.

<p>There’s no formula for admission. I’m also interested in EECS at MIT, and from what I’ve heard, they don’t care much for the GRE, as long as you take it and do well on it. Its math section is much easier than the SAT, but its English section is much harder. There are so many applicants with perfect math GRE scores that having one doesn’t guarantee admission by any stretch of the imagination. Then again, nothing does. </p>

<p>In short, do research and internships. Be passionate. Try very hard to get into a position where your research will get published. Take challenging classes and keep your GPA up. EECS grad admission is extremely difficult for domestic students, let alone internationals.</p>
