International interview in mid-March

The title says it all (mostly). I am from South Africa, and have finally been contacted for an interview by a Harvard alum, in Mid March. What does this mean. On their website it says that they only contact people in SA for interviews when they "Need more information." I assume this is good (I am not out yet!) but could someone give me some idea of what to expect! thanks

103 views and no-one has any idea what is going on? Any ideas what this is about are appreciated. It’s on Friday

It is definitely a good sign. You’re still in the race.

I’m from India. Till now, the only interviews I attended were those for MIT and Princeton. But, from the little experience I have, I can tell you this : be frank, be yourself, speak of what you’re passionate about, let the interviewer see your spirit soar when you speak. And little can go wrong, regardless of what the interviewer puts in front of you.

God Bless You.

It is a good thing! I know that an international last year had an interview towards the end of March, and like three days later decisions were out. So he was already in at the time of his interview. I wouldn’t overthink it.

Just be yourself. They will guide the interview.

Good luck!

ok… thanks a lot. You are right, I am probably overthinking and stessing about it too much… will prepare for whatever may come, then relax, and show them who I am…:)

I’m from the US and had a second interview, which seems to be the same as many late international interviews. It is a good sign; you are still in the running. From what I gathered, they want to see that you will fit well in the campus and contribute to the university while you are there. Good luck!

Use your common sense. Given the rarity of international interviewers and the difficulty of arranging the interviews, why do you think Harvard would arrange one for you?

Good luck to you all. I also got a second interview last week. 20 DAYS!

Thank-you all. But i have no idea why me northstarmom. Guess I will see on friday. Was just wondering if they had a specific agenda for these late international interviews, but think that has been answered well. Thanks people… Good luck to everyone else applying. If you are anything like me, these are not going to be the best days of our lives, but the 1st will hopefully be the GREATEST

Whether or not you get into harvard, soon you’ll be deciding where to spend the next several years of your life. Wherever you go, you’ll make new friends, learn new things and will experience things that will chang the course of your life.

Harvard won’t guarantee success or happiness. If you are rejected like most applicants, that won’t mean a lifetime of misery and failure.

Put April first into perspective.

Do you really think they set up an interview for you this late in the game so that the interviewer can point at you and say, " hahaha, you’re rejected!" ? This an opportunity, so make the best of it. Good luck!

@ Northstarmom. Really well said. Even though we are all excited and cannot wait, lets think that everything in this world happens for a reason. If you don’t go to Harvard, perhaps is because it was meant to be this way. Life puts things ahead for a reason. Maybe you were meant to be in another place, who knows. Take the opportunities that are given, and be happy :D

@ people… just had the interview, and was mainly focussed on some concers/specific points they needed clarification on about my app. But also a chance for me to ask about Harvard; overall, went well. Feel I am still in the running. Nice chat too, boosted my impression of the school

Great!!! way to go Idiosyncra3y!!! its a nice feeling right??? the best of luck to everyone in this thread :D. And please!!! don’t forget to update us on the admission decision!!!

Yeah, very nice… I harboured an immensely faint hope though that she could tell me that I am a ‘likely’. infintesimal though… and yes, good luck, hope to hear about a lot of acceptances on these boards

Second international interview for me as well!

I don’t know whether its a bad thing or a good thing…a confusing thing I suppose. Sigh
