Noooo! Thats awful! Can't you negotiate with the FA Office? :(

Accepted: Upenn, Cornell, Dartmouth, Columbia
Rejected: Harvard, Princeton

Non-Ivy Accepted: Stanford, UChicago, Swarthmore, Williams

where are you from Inuedo and what;s your stats?

HEy guys, I've been reading your thread and so far it's given me hope. I'm also an int'l student and I want to apply to the ivies this fall. I've got to start compiling my application soon tho because I'll be busy writing my final high school exams in the fall.
I'd really appreciate it if you could post tips and/or what you did that u think got u into an ivy.
Thanks a lot

I'm an Indian but I have lived in the Middle East for all my life. My stats, for what they are worth:

1520/800/790/750. I don't have any GPA or High School rank since I went to a British Curriculum school but my GCSE results were:

8A* 1A. Special award in the Economics Examination.

A-Levels: 4A predicted + 3 AEA.

That's about it. If you have any other question please feel free to PM me.

great stats inuendo. thx. my SATs are 1400 (700/700), havent taken the SATII yet (btw, wats the difference btween math IC and math IIC?), straight As, top 8%, eastern european but have lived on 3 dif continents.
what did u write about in your essay?

Math IC is very basic math, similar to the level in the old SAT I. If you are interested in applying to a top college then you should definitely take the Math IIC. The course content for this test is more difficult and rigorous but if you are relatively good at math you should find it mangable.

Which East European country are you from? I ask this because diversity plays a huge role in admissions, especially at Ivy League calibre university. If you are from an underrepresented country and have done something unique, such as living in 3 different continents, then you can use this to a great advantage in securing admissions at top US colleges.

My experiences are very different from your so, naturally, my application, particularly my essays, were very different to what yours will be. Additionally, I had to write many different essays since I applied to a number of universities. If you would like more information about my essays, please PM me.

I'm from Serbia and Montenegro (former Yugoslavia). I know what u mean about emphasizing diversity, and I have in my essay draft. But, its either me or no matter how I word some things, it just sounds like I'm showing off. I don't want to come off sounding pretentious. how should I sound unique, but not full of myself?
do you have any suggestions as to what I should emphasize in my essay?
As for the Math SAT IIs, I guess I'll be taking the IIC... I'm sort of good at math, so I hope I manage.

crimson4me- I am from Serbia too. I got into Cornell this year so I'll PM my e-mail to you and if you have any questions i'll be happy to answer them

Might as well post my info here:

Accepted: Harvard, Cornell, UPenn
Rejected: Yale
(Non Ivies: Rejected Georgetown, Accepted Vassar)

SATI: 680M, 710V
SATII: 620 Writing (ouch), 690 Lit, 740 M-Bio

I've chosen to enroll at Harvard - I'm a British student, so no rank or GPA, but exam wise:
GCSEs: 3xA*, 4xA, 3xB
AS/2s: Predictions: ABB

...I guess there's some irony in the fact that the only other person who applied to the US in my school (and accepted at Harvard) was a recruited athelete with perfect grades (1600, 4xAs etc.). I'm not an athelete - I'm a pretty good musician, and theatre technician. I suspect my essays made up for my pretty poor writing SATII...

Wow, congrats everybody!
Looking at these beautiful admissions, I hope I can manage and post:

OHMIGOD! I GOT ACCEPTED TO STANFORD!!

...in two years :]
Best of luck to everybody!

Also, I would like to ask the acceptees about their Stats & ECs. :]

Is anybody recieving financial aid from these prestigious universities?

Congrats to all of you Ivy Intls!

I'm a Yalie now.
