International / Low SAT High GPA / CS

Since UIUC’s CS program is one of the best in the country, the competition level is insane.
GPA is 96.47
Class rank : 1/42
I have some decent ECs
SAT score is low: 1450(650/800)
SAT II: 780 Math + 790 Phy

I am going to early action but still since my SAT is not near to 50%, I am concerned about this situation. Should I risk it and directly apply or should I consider CS+X programs, which are still competitive but compared to CS program I feel more confident about my score.

I have researched about the differences and I could not find A HUGE one. They are basically the same thing. However though, the gap between estimated salary after graduation is huge (40k) , does anyone know why is it like that?

Any CS+X students, are you happy with your choice?

Thank You

CS in Grainger College is the most competitive and will get you a Bachelor of Science degree. CS+X are usually in other colleges, which are easier to get into, and the degree is a Bachelor of Arts.

Sometimes students from other countries have difficult with the English part of the SAT because English in other countries might be subtly different from American English, or may be taught slightly differently.

Assuming that your SAT is 650 in English and 800 in math, this might not be a problem.

I think that I would apply for the program that you want to get into.
