International>Oberlin realistic chances

Urgh.

I want to go to Oberlin soo bad. I wanna apply to attend fall '09

I am gonna apply ED I believe, but do you think this will increase or decrease my chances(more competitive pool etc)?

I haven't yet taken the SAT but from what I've heard expect around 2100-300

I have 4 As 1 A* 3B's and 2 D's(In French and technology) at GCSE
transcript GPA equivalent will be essentially straight A's and occasional B's

At A-level I am taking Art, Eng Lit, Philosophy and Religious Studies, in a highly selective grammar school. When I apply I will have predicted A-levels of straight A's

My EC's are good: Touring in a band for two years nationwide, written two screenplays and a novel, high positions in fiction, philisophical debate and film societies, form captain, playing organ in church assmeblies for school etc.
very good recommendations i expect.

My family have a very low income in comparison to most : /

I am so frickin nervous. Even tho its still ages until Im even meant to start THINKING about applying : /

What did you put in your "why oberlin" essay? Im scared when I do it I will go too eccentric or flamboyant which is common when I write stuff of my opinion
: /

Id be grateful to hear from internationalees who got in and who are thinking of applying to see if iam even half close to being acceptable.

Thankyou so much.

I'm from England and am focused heavily on english and art and music and only kinda satisfactory at maths and sciences(At GCSE level A in maths and Double B in double science), does this stint my chances?

Don't worry. You're good.

Eccentric and flamboyant is good for Oberlin =).

Thanks.

you speak wise word onecurlyfairy.

Just to wait now..

(I am lynchian btw, other account messed up.)

TheOneCurlyFRY, not fairy, but thanks.

No offense, but if you come to the US, know that a fairy is generally not good and that many other British idioms don't translate well.

^Umm...I tend to doubt the OP choice of words would lean in that taste, and that comment seems unnecessary here...

I think you have good chances! But focus on school for now..Don't look too closely at colleges and the application process until your second semester..You have time yet.

hahaha glad to know that the "fairy" thing is still confusing people...lolz...i was once confused too..almost a year ago ;)

^ shut up, suman. it's so funny that we actually knew each other off CC except i don't think we've ever talked about it...

and now u disclose my name .....! isn't there anything called privacy policy in College confidential...can't I sue this girl??^^

On a brighter note I got a letter from Oberlin today. which is my first communication with them.

hoorah.

(am the OP btw)

that's cool, OP.

no, you can't sue me. you can however, use my name. it's all over CC, anyway.
