International Physics Olympiad

Hey everyone,

So, before this summer, I had only taking introductory high school physics. Then I took an online course that seemed to cover the entire AP Physics 2 curriculum, allowing me to jump right into Calculus-Based AP Physics C this year (my junior year). As I’m really passionate about physics, I’m wondering: will AP Physics C be enough for me to reach a level at which I could participate in IPhO (and potentially medal) in just one year? For reference, in terms of level, I took a look at the USAPHO F=MA exam and I actually found it really easy. I’m also fairly good with Electricity and Magnetism.

So, do you think it would be possible for me to potentially make the IPhO team in just one year with my current knowledge and AP Physics C? If not, what should I try to do in order to prepare? Thanks.

I don’t think that we would know. Take a look at the practice tests and see if it’s realistic for you to try out for it. I’m sure there are guidelines and requirements on their website to see if you’re qualified.

@pinklinks Thank you! By the way, I was just wondering if there were any previous USAPhOers on College Confidential that could help me out.

Wow, nobody, really?
