I think I would actually suggest the UK or Australia if they have MBBS and if you don't want to study in India. It's not 75K for India. There's a lot more fees and donations involved and etc. Also adjusting to the Indian system and life is tough. Consider all possibilities and make your choice. Good luck.

sciencenerd... the donations are for people who are not NRI and trying to get in... for NRI's it is 350,000 RS on the dot... the USD amount depends on the current coversion value... im talking abt gujarat med schools... (only 4 of which do have NRI seats.. NHL, Vaghodia, Karamsad.. and one more which im forgetting of..)

hi my name is Isaac from Ethiopia. I am a senior.I was hoping to study medicine and start off with a premed school so what are my chances?i have a top GPA what should i do or what are the steps I should take?

OP,
If you are an NRI from India, my recommendation would be to pursue MBBS in India.
I am sure that certain number of seats are kept reserved for NRIs. Bombay, Manipal, and Vellur hospitals come to mind. I believe the admission for NRIs is based on a significant downpayment prior to matriculation.

If you are interested in ‘Clinical’ work, you will get a tremendous hands-on experience in India. If you are interested in the MD/PhD programs however, India is not the best option.

Hi vickpick:)
I’m a Chinese highschool student and my current situation is quite similar to amalshine’s situation in 2009. I’d like to be a doctor wherever I study, so it’s quite importent to know the opportunity to study pre-med, get into a medical school and become a doctor.

You said your neighbour’s son - a Chinese student - got into a medical school and his college is US accredited. Do you know which college his studied in? And could you please let me know how to get in touch with him? (facebook, email, skype…are OK)

Thank you so much!

D’s Med. School class has 5 international students (out of 199 total in 3 different programs.)

become a doctor in your own country and then come over here as an img though the ecfmg…it is much easier

^It is very hard and time consuming and you better have a spouse who will support you for many years before you get american MD license.

Why would one need to have a spouse to support them through the years while they get an MD license. If they were a doctor in their own country wouldn’t their qualifications whether it be MBBS, MB ChB, BM BCh, etc. be equivalent to an MD. And the only thing that would be required is to pass the board exams? Please correct me if I have false information.

Miami…

Do you know how many of your D’s int’l classmates are Canadians?

it is really disappointing that US med schools hardly accept international students … I am from brazil and aspire to be a doctor but the level of education in my country is very poor which is why i would like to study in the us and there is really not much i can do to get accepted in the us or raise the level of education in brazil…
