I really want to get an International Relations Major, but I'm having trouble finding schools that have one, any suggestions? I'm looking for schools in Canada and the states. Preferably ones that have a good poli sci program. Thanks in advance.

what? A ton of schools have these. I don't even know where to begin! One reason you might be missing them is A. I don't know about canadian colleges and B. sometimes it's a concentration within poli sci

k. I know of a few, it's just I'm having some problems finding them, I'm always checking schools out, but so far I've only found a few that I would consider attending. But do you have any suggestions anyways? I'd like to know which schools you guys think have a good program for an international relations major.

georgetown is probably one of the best. ivies would all be strong too

what level are you looking at? how competetive are your stats? I think I (and lots of other people) can help you more with some specifics

Well, I can't give you an SAT score because I didn't take them (if I will end up seriously thinking about going to school in the states, I'll take them, but for now I'm not sure yet) because we don't write them in Canada. I'm at an 89% average (I'm not 100% sure what that translates into in the states, but it should be like an 3.8 GPA or so.....). I took honours classes (kinda like AP) in social. Does that help?

This is vague because all I can give you is a random list of schools, you need to give some sort of preference or detail:

Research Universities:
Georgtown
Tufts
George Washington
Princeton
Stanford
University of Virginia
Syracuse University
Cornell
American
Northeastern

LACs:
Macalester
Bucknell
Claremont McKenna
Dickinson
Colby
Colgate
Hamilton

Any college in Washington DC!

I'm looking for a school located kind of close to the Canada boarder (not in the southern part of the states) as far as location goes. It should also be in a bigger city (it doesn't have to be a huge city, but not small either). The school also has to be willing to give out international aid. What else... I would prefere it to be a coed school and not an all womens university.... but other than that I don't really have any other preferences.

I think Yale is good in this, but I'm not positive, and it seems to fit your requirements. Of those he listed, Northeastern, Syracuse, and Tufts seem to fit the bill

I used to want to go to an ivy, but I think that dream vanished when I saw the tuition fees, so yale is probably out, but I'll check into those, thanks!

the University of Southern California has an IR major

collegeboard.com lets you plug in a major and get a list of colleges

Yale's comphrehensive fee of $38,000 is nothing abnormal

Georgetown is $40,000
Tufts is $40,000
Northeastern is $37,000

Most first tier schools are within the $30-40,000 range these days, with some going up and over. You have to consider how good the financial aid is...

:and someone needs to take the mic b/c I'm bad at explaining financial aid:

a lot of these schools aren't international friendly in terms of fin. aid, so you really need to do your paperwork. btw USC is not near the border of canada :p

USC is not near the border of canada, LOL

How do you do the tongue smiley?

I know that they're expensive, but universities here in canada are not that expensive... That's where I'm coming from.... I do need a school that's international friendly, I think Georgetown is as far as I know, but I'm not sure. I think that I am eligable for financial aid, maybe not that much.... but I will probably be able to get quite a bit so that I can pay off the rest of the tuition fee, so let's not worry about tuition fees... I can figure that out later. But thanks for the input and keep it coming. I'm checking school websites as we speak. So far I've gotten quite a bit of information.

: p with no space :p:p:p:p:p:p

XD I applied there, I know it isn't. But hey, Mexico isn't far away. and we are so much cooler than canadians.

I'm pretty sure a Canadian would disagree with you on that last statement :p
