International Relations Masters programs- US and European schools

Hilarykyoko - American (SIS) has a Comparative & Regional Studies program where you can focus on Europe as your declared region and spend a semester abroad at Sciences Po.

Going back to this thing about work experience, does teaching English in China count as work experience? I've heard it disparaged in a number of forums like this as "just" teaching English. But I have a music degree in undergrad and I haven't really found any other options.

Actually, this is a kind of academic question, since I'm going to apply anyway and see where the cards fall.

the 1st question, does anybody know any graduate program concentrating on international security and/or national security? I’ve been facing some difficulties for finding those.

2nd question, a little while ago I was looking at the HP of the Institute of World Politics and thought it’s got pretty good program. Does anybody know about this IWP? If so, then is it worth paying lots of money and spend 2 years there?

Thanks!

Mak14 - quite a few people have asked about the IWP, but I’ve honestly never heard of it. It’s apparently located in DC, and while everyone here routinely mentions a wide range of IR schools both in academic and professional (conferences, roundtables, discussion panels, etc) settings, I’ve never heard it mentioned by anyone offline.

As for security, lots of schools have distinct security programs - Georgetown, SAIS, GWU, Denver, Pittsburgh - just to name a few…

hey i came across this forum and i’m intrigued by the debate on work experience. i’m an undergrad student right now of economics and i want to apply for an IR program. the best i can have is voluntary work or an extra course relating to IR. in such a case would any of the top schools take me in?
