Are there any schools known for their international studies/relations and/or political science undergrad programs other than GW and American?

[with good study abroad programs]

There are many great undergrad programs-- see link below–

[Foreign Policy: Inside the Ivory Tower](http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=4685&page=1)

But it really helps to be in DC.

Thanks very much- however I’m also (besides being really sorry that I keep adding req’s) looking for a university in or right next to a big city, and one that isn’t that hard to get into (I believe the less difficult the admissions are the more likely I’ll get merit-based aid).

SEARCH, this has been asked a million times.

Well besides the universities in Michigan, you may also want to look into:
University of Iowa- Iowa City
University of Minnesota- Twin Cities *
Pennslyvania State University- University Park
George Washington University

These are universities that do not cost much for out of state students, and likely have good financial aid and merit aid. Although they are difficult to get into, they are not Ivy League difficult.

I also have not known American University to be good with international relations, didn’t see it rank according to USNEWS… Though if American University ( extremely small student body) is great in international relations, I will look more into the school also.

I heard Northeastern gives out great Merit aid between 8k-14k depending on your stats. You might want to consider them since BU is horrible with financial aid.

American is very well known for undergrad and grad IR.
Check out George Mason in Alexandria VA. Up and coming in IR and PoliSci. Not as difficult to get into, may be more eligible for aid, but close to DC to take advantage of those opportunities
I’ll find another link that may be pertinent.

[Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs](APSIA Breakfast Reception: DC - APSIA)

Check out member and affiliate schools. These are graduate programs, but I would assume they would filter down to undergrad also.
Hope this helps

Agreed. Many great suggestions could be found with a simple search. It’s really not that difficult.

…and dozens more.

im just gonna toss out some names here

tufts
georgetown
HYP
dartmouth
brown
College of William and Mary
Columbia
University of Rochester
Syracuse
Carleton
Macalester
BU (financial aid is in fact dependent on how much they want you)
UCSD (Pacific Rim studies)
Bowdoin College
many many more

Johns Hopkins, Tufts, Georgetown, American, GWU, Macalester, Claremont McKenna, Swarthmore, Columbia, Princeton, etc…

I wouldn’t trust that list If I were you. The professors interviewed for that survey were more accustome to graduate level programs than undergraduate level programs.

Georgetown SFS not the undisputed #1 IR undergraduate school? JHU last and Tufts, American, GWU aren’t recognized to have top notch programs lol.

While all of those have fantastic IR programs, unfortunately most of them (except GWU and American) fail the key requirement:

Cool, I didnt read the post. Thanks for pointing that key and crucial factor out IBClass06. You are the man. :)

Clark University doesn’t quite fit the in-or-near-a-big-city criterion (unless you call Worcester a big city or 50 miles "near), but I believe its IR program is well regarded, and it’s a bit less selective than most of the schools named so far.

“I wouldn’t trust that list If I were you. The professors interviewed for that survey were more accustome to graduate level programs than undergraduate level programs.”

No evidence whatsoever that this is true. Furthermore, if professors were at the graduate level, they would know - first hand - how prepared their entering students were and, further, would have served on the graduate admissions committees, comparing the preparation of students from multiple schools.

The OP wanted schools where he may be eligible for merit aid. There are varied schools on both lists that warrant further investigation. I would assume that any school that is a member of APSIA would have a fairly good undergrad program that would meet OPs requirements.
