Can anyone give their opinions on the strength of the International Relationships major at UF: the quality of classes and professors, job opportunities, etc?

Edit: Political Science at UF in general.

I’m a poli sci major and i’m working towards the international relations certificate. There’s no IR degree but you can always get the certificate by taking a certain set of courses (its 18 credits in total). I think the poli sci program as a whole is pretty awesome. There’s a wide variety of courses, from comparative politics, to theory, to international relations, to federal government and legislative politics type things. The major itself is pretty easy because it’s only 30 credits of poli sci classes along with statistics and your general education credits. Most people end up double majoring or getting a minor or two because it’s so flexible. The teachers are great. I haven’t had any yet that I didn’t liked. As far as job opportunities are concerned, I don’t really know much. I do know that apparently our international relations certificate program has been well received. I had a class with Dr Leann Brown and she said that the according to some Washington DC people (can’t remember if it was at a university or at a sector of the government), UF international relations students come out relatively well prepared from the program.

Hope that helps!
