What does THAT mean? So are SAT I Writing scores really used by colleges in the admissions process? I'm so hopelessly confused. Damn you, CollegeBoard!

I dunno how "international" I am compared to you guys (I'm from Canada)...

800 CR
760 M
710 W

I'm real ****ed about the Writing--I had a 71/9 split on it. That essay topic was so stupid; I spewed out a page-and-a-half of garbage because I didn't know what to write.

..well...i don't know how to describe my scores.

to be frank, i feel indifferent towards tehm. nothing to shout about, nothing to whine about. i got a a little higher than i hoped, but not that great to warrant screaming and champagne.

i was aiming for a 2100. i got 2150. not high, but quite good enough for me considering that with my medical condition, i managed 4 straight hours an exam and didn't even bother with those accomodation thingies.

jpps - Anybody's welcome AND wow, your scores are damn impressive. I don't understand what you're talking about with the 71/9 split, though. What was the topic for the essay?

banedon - Medical condition? worried Well, I'm glad you managed it! Yay! THAT should be worth screaming and champagne! And strawberries, too. (Pretty Woman, anyone?) Good total, btw. I hope UChicago deems you and your whole app as "Yes! We want banedon to liven up our community and contribute! We want to teach him! We want him!"

Izzy--I'm especially happy with my scores considering that they're a huge improvement over the last two times I took the SATs (730v/690m the first time and 720/650 the second).

For the 71/9 split, I mean that out of the 20-80 multiple-choice scale on writing, I got a 71, and my essay got a grade of 9.

The gist of the essay topic was: "Do you think people aren't private enough these days?"

Sounds like an interesting essay... (did SAT II). But 25 minutes I think is a cramped time. It's just so...I did the TOEFL and we had to write an essay in 30 minutes, but I did it over the computer so I think that's unfair since most people type faster than they write AND it's easy to go back and rewrite entire paragraphs.

9 is higher than what I got on the essay in May. :)

i thought i did faily well on my TOEFL essay but i believe it was shorter than the ppl correcting would have liked! but i'm satisfied. TOEFL is not THAT big a factor.

i thought the essay this time was rather dull and i felt like the example i had to use were more subjective than objective...so jpps u had 9 wrong on the WRT and u got a 710?
