the Lac's like vassar, middlebury gave vague answers, they would like you to take it when possible
[/quote]
i emailed vassar and it said i don't need to take the TOEFL - but that could be because i had english for my O-levels and have it for my A-levels and studied in a school where everything is taught in English.

if english has been the medium of teaching in your school, it's likely that they'll let you skip the TOEFL. still, you should email and find out. it's SO expensive - and long, i've heard. i really don't want to give it - but like Lakshmi, if my ED school rejects / defers me, i think i will.

i'm worried sick about my ED school. why could it not be need-blind? :(

VASSAR ED 1 :D a long RD list of around 30 schools - all LACs from the first tier. may be brown, dartmouth and upenn - maybe. need more than 90% of the costs to be covered by college.

yes, my parents are oil moguls. we live in a castle with a moat and have 30 security guards, a golf course and a chef who used to work at the white house before. :D

or... another theory:

i'm applying for application fee waivers + mailing all my stuff to my cousin in one package by DHL and asking her to mail them from america coz it's cheaper there :D

i don't know which one you want to believe ;)

A good way to gt rid of some of these colleges is by talking to current students of th LACs ur applying to. And try to think like this "Why would I leave my country for LAC #50) its not worth it. I had 20 universities and ended with 8!!!

kee, I think I'll also apply to a bunch of schools, well maybe not 30, but around 15-20 :D.
uhm...I know Brown waives toefl for 600+ in CR. that's why I didn't take it in the first place :p

okay, seriously, will i post them so that you guys can decide which ones i should leave out?

They fall under the US News Top Liberal Arts College list and are called Colgate University and Wesleyan University (not colleges, to my surprise). The last 3 are my safeties and I really like MHC. I COULD leave out Hamilton though... ponders
