"Well, it's of course completely different if you're an international! They don't expect internationals to have 2300+ on the SATs!"

Is that true? and to what extent will it matter? I am South Africa with a 2240 (800m 750cr 690w :(). How will this look to adcom's at top ivies? thoughts...

Generally though, is the quote correct? do they take into account that most of us self study the SAT and then do it in between our nations curriculum?

I think what GB said is usually applicable to international students whose first language is not English. Your scores are very good by any standard and excellent if you are an ESL student; so, don’t worry.

By the way, most US students self-study for the SAT too.

^Bilguun, Most american schools actually do prep students for the sat. Students also self study, but at school there is a heavy emphasis on sats, which obviously gives them an advantage. Just wondering(since you got into harvard:P) what were your scores??

And Idioyadayada, It depends where you come from. Countries like China and India are very competitive, as a result most students from those countries have high sat scores(Ithink)
