I am a sixteen year old (Junior)high school sudent with hopes and aspirations of attending a university in the US. I was wondering which universities offer generous tuition fee waivers/grants for internationals seeing how my family has a low income and can not afford to pay the costs of attending a college abroad. I would also like to ask for some tips and pointers about extraculiculars and what I can do to increase my chances of being admitted to a given school. I currently haven't got many ECs to put in my college aplication, except for a little volunteer work, and math and IT olympiad participations. My SAT scores are: 800 math 640 Reading and 750 writing, however I am planning to take the SAT again. As for subject tests I am planning to take Math II,Physics(or Biology),World History... Any help and information would be appreciated

So to sum up:
1.What universities offer low tuitions to international students
2.What ECs should I take to increase my chances of admittance
3.SAT I and subject tests preferred scores

Top tier schools tend to have the best financial aid for internationals, but also look into schools that offer a lot of merit aid

ECs are something you want to have for you entire high school career (and have been heavily involved with since freshman year). So a lack of ECs will be a problem. Ideally you will have a decent amount of community service, several leadership positions and some ECs that convey a passion and commitment to something.

It depends what your intended major is. Math II is always good to have, the world history one will be good because then you show that you have several strengths, either science one is good, but if you think you can do well take the physics one. As for good scores it varies by school. 750+ is good for any school and 700+ is good for most, if you are in the 600-699 range you will still have some good options.

Only a handful of US colleges offer financial aid for internationals. Almost all of these colleges are extremely selective (i.e. HYPSM). You can get merit aid from public schools, but most merit aid is reserved for in-state students. As for your other questions, your SAT’s and EC’s depend on the colleges your applying to. Which schools are u aiming for?

P.S. “math and IT olympiad participations” - What do you mean by this? Did you participate in IOI or the IMO, were you a finalist for your country’s math or CS team?
