International student applying to universities in Canada

Hello there  Just wondering about my chances of getting into University of Toronto, University of Waterloo and McGill university.

Major/program applied: Mechanical engineering(mcgill, waterloo), trackone(toronto)

SAT I: 1430(new) 2050(old)
SAT II: mathematics level 2 - 800
physics - 800
TOEFL: 110

iGCSE: 7 A*, 2 A, 1 B
AS level: 4 A (Physics, Economics, Mathematics, Further mathematics)

I’ve moved to another country & currently attending to a school that has non-british curriculum after completing y12 so I won’t have final alevel grades as I won’t be doing a2 level exams.

I can’t really calculate a GPA since grading system at my current school is totally different to US schools but anyway, my grades (y13) are following: ** A is the highest **

6 A(Korean, Chemistry, English, English II, Physics, Geometry and Vector)
1 B (Probability and Statistics)
2 C (East Asian History, Earth Science (the most painful subject ever))

ECAs: Maths & Science & Economics mentoring, MUN, environmental committee, Duke of Edinburgh International award bronze&silver

ughghg i wonder when would those unis issue decisions… can’t wait & super stressed… anyway are there any kind souls who could help me with figuring out my chances of getting admitted? :^)))

Thanks :DD:D

Hey there!

I don’t really get the iGCSE system, but I’m guessing these give you a pretty solid GPA. Your SAT is solid as well and your SAT 2 scores are basically perfect. I have to admit that your ECs are a little too broad and weak, but honestly, I don’t think that will matter. If you can elaborate on your ECs, that would be great.

I honestly believe you’ve got a high chance at attending all 3 universities. Best of luck!

Your chances of admission will depend on your AIF (for Waterloo) and video interview (for Toronto). I’m not up on McGill’s admission procedures, so I’m not sure if they have something similar.

Waterloo’s engineering admissions director puts out a great blog. Each year he publishes the likelihood of admissions for the various engineering programs. https://profbillanderson.■■■■■■■■■■■■■/2016/10/11/chances-for-2017/ Note that the chances for international applicants are much slimmer than for Canadian applicants.
