International Student: Chance Me for NYU Abu Dhabi, please!

Hey! I’m a high school student looking to study abroad. I’m writing because here I have no one to ask about the college admissions process: any help would be appreciated!

Demographics: Latin-american, low income.

Academics: Haven’t taken the SAT yet (it is quite expensive here where I live), predicted IB score 39/45, i think my GPA is 4.0 UW (I used an online converter), top 3 in my class of 300.

ECs: Model united nations (3 years), some proyects related to the environment/education (tutored kids, etc), started a small gardening proyect with a bunch of people from my school. nothing else :frowning:

Random info: my dream school is NYUAD; english isn’t my native language; I’m taking Lit, English B and History at HL, Math, Bio and Visual Arts at SL.

I want to major in politic science/economics. I have an interest for anything related to social sciences, to be honest. Also! I think I’m going to transfer schools, so maaaybe I´ll have two more years in high school (i won’t graduate late, it’s just that here we started the IB VERY early). Is there anything I can do to have better chances? Specially regarding my EC’s, they’re very worrying to me.

Thanks!!

I’ve got a brother there and you sound like a good applicant to me. I would certainly play up your low income status and any hardship you may have endured related to that in your essays. Also emphasize that you really want to be abroad. Its a great school. I really wish you luck! Read all the books you can, in the meanwhile.
