UCB/UCLA: Reach (out of state)

Since you know t's harder for internationals, how are you expecting to get into schools where your stats are below average? Especially considering you're an Asian international? With 433 posts, you should have a good idea.

how are his stats below average? his GPA and SAT scores may not be stellar, but considering the fact he hasn't been in this country all that long, I'd say they are pretty good, and admissions officers do take your background in consideration. he didn't cure cancer, but his ECs are definitely above average. plus he will not ask for financial aid, so his international status won't hurt him and may even work to his advantage.

There are tons of Asian internationals who've never set foot in the states with much stronger stats.

thanks you letmepass for your understanding.
but
bobby100 isn't wrong. yes I do know that I don't have the strongest scores or GPAs. I am retaking the SAT this Nov and am having my GC explain my grades. I know that adcoms might not even give a crp about it, but still. worth a shot. So I have my fingers crossed.

As most colleges require, I am taking the TOEFL because my CR score isn't over 670. I know TOEFL scores won't replace the CR score, but at least adcoms will know that I haven't been learning English that long. (started learning Eng 5 years ago. seriously. impressed all my English teachers. although my AP english teacher isn't that much impressed right now :( )

anyway, thank you for your opinions.

Ivies do say that although they are need-aware for intl. students, it will be a benefit for those intl. students if they do not require FA.

any comments on chances?

bummppppppalicious...? lol..

bummmpppppp...

Cornell ED--Match to Slight Reach (closer to match)
University of Michigan RA--Match
Emory-Oxford college EA--Match to Slight Reach (closer to match)
Notre Dame--Match
Princeton--reach
*UPenn or Columbia (at which one do I have higher chance of getting in--Penn, unless you are applying for Wharton)--Penn is match to slight reach, unless applying for Wharton, which is a reach
*Columbia--reach
*Johns Hopkins--slight reach to reach
*Georgetown--match to slight reach
*UC Berkeley and UCLA--Slight Reach (OOS)
*UVA--match to slight reach
*U of Wisconsin - Madison--safety to safe match
*James Madison--safety

P.S. You need to mellow out--you'll get into a lot of these schools

thanks soo much

retaking sat in nov wont be on time for ed

cornell accepts rushed scores... so...

bummppppp....
