Hi,
I am a student studying in 12th grade in India. I have a weird story. I finished 9th and 10th grade in a New Jersey (USA) public school then I moved to India to finished my secondary school.
I am interested in pursuing a degree in science (Mech Eng, CS eng and Chem eng…in that order)
My Gpa in 9th and 10th was 3.7 UW and my school did not weigh honor classes and there were no available AP classes at the time. I was in the most rigorous classes that I could have been in.
In India my grade was 70% in 11th due to moving and new curriculum (CBSE) etc… and in 12th I have about a 75 percent (top 15-20% in my school as grading is extremely harsh) (3.8-3.9 if converted to UW US GPA)
I GOT A 2040(680 in all subjects) IN MY FIRST SAT BUT I AM EXPECTING above 2100 -2200 in the October sat (probably an 800 in math). I will also also be giving Sat Math 2 and chem and am fairly well prepared and will get above 700 if not 750 in each of those.
I have done extra curricular… however they are mostly from 9th and 10th as I had to focus on my academics in 11th and 12th.
I was a lead designer on our school’s robotics team (we made it to State Championships)
Also mentored the junior classes
Have done Karate for 2 years with 100s of hours of volunteer work there.
Was part of the Key Club and volunteered there
JV Volleyball Team
Science League (highest scorer in our school)
School debate team
So here is my dilemma:
I cannot afford to go abroad without financial aid.
And so I have picked out colleges that give Financial Aid or I think they do:
Here are my ED choices that I need to choose from:
Tufts (does it give need based aid to int. students?)
Williams
Amherst
EA colleges:
Northeastern(does it give aid to int. students?)
Rhodes College
Bard College
In RD:(not all, only a few from these)
Uni. of Washington
Virginia Tech
UCs
Carleton
Colby
University of Illinois -UC
Reed
Penn State
Please help me out choose which college I should apply to for Engineering FOR ED. And do tufts and North eastern offer FIN Aid… i couldn’t find online for int. students.
Also please let me know any other good reputable colleges with generous financial aid for int. students, good science program and which are not too reach for me.
