Hi, I’m a recent graduate with a BA in Psychology from California and I’m off to do my Masters in England. I’ve applied to Exeter, Leeds, Nottingham and Kent and so far I’ve been accepted into Leeds and Kent. It’ll be my first time in England and I’m just looking for any information you have on the universities/area safety/student life/cost. Also what would be your top choice in going for a postgraduate degree in Psychology? My specification is Industrial/Organizational Psych.
From my research it looks like Exeter is best; but it’s extremely expensive, is it worth it? Plus I’m not sure if I’ll get into Exeter.
But any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
Hi,
Is there any financial aid/scholarship/fellowship that you’re up to, or any plans of acquiring one?
@kyubiness thank you for responding!
Yes, there’s a couple but I’m not leaning on it. I’m more worried about daily living expenses. From what I know living near London is definitely going to be more expensive but these uni’s are outside of the central London area and I’m not sure which would be more beneficial in terms of overall well-being and which uni is considered “better”.
Out of all of them only University of Kent is not in the Russell group, but I hear it has a decent psychology program, the weather is nicer than the other areas, and from the university webpage, tuition from 2015-2016 year is the lowest. They haven’t released 2016-2017 yet.
But I haven’t researched all funding opportunities yet. I have reviewed it, but not comprehensively researched it. Sadly, I haven’t seen more than a couple that offer aid for international students from the US.
Hi,
Try the Chevening scholarship. Anyway, I think you should look at the individual websites and research the curriculum breakdown and additional activities and opportunities they have in store for their students. At this point in time, the best thing you could do is to research a lot — it will really take a lot of effort to collate the pros and cons of applying/attending to one program over the other. As a side note, I believe that the cost of living in England is high, no matter where. Cheers!
