International Student, Financial Aid/Merit Scholarship?

I am a Canadian citizen in New York State. I am very interested in Umich but from what I read they give absolutely no need-based financial aid for international students correct? But what about their wide selection of merit scholarships? Are they available for international students and are there separate applications required?

I am also applying for the University of Rochester which specifically gives Canadian and Mexican citizens financial aid. If anyone knows of any similar schools like that I would appreciate it.

Are you a permanent resident in the U.S. with a green card? If so, you’d be eligible for any aid which they might offer to an out-of-state student with high need (if you have high need.)
OOS tuition, however, is very high. Your chances for a viable fiscal pick are going to be the state in which you reside.

If you’re not a permanent resident at all, why not apply to McGill/UT/UBC etc. Great schools and a steal compared to US schools in terms of cost. Once you get to campus, you’d be eligible for OSAP in the case of UT, and fed grants everywhere else, etc.

Just a thought.
Best wishes.

Thank you for the response. No I am not a permanent citizen and I have already applied to McGill. My family however lives in the US so I am also looking for viable schools in America.
