International student financial aid

so rice is going to give financial aid from 2009 to international students...i am an international student and i am going to apply for aid...but i have a little confusion...usually international students had to submit a 'international student financial statement' where they had to show proof of ability to pay for atleast the first year...so do i have to submit this form?...(there are two more forms for financial aid)...i am really confused...its because i cant pay that im asking for aid...so what about the financial statement form?...i would be grateful if anyone could shed some light on this matter...i mailed rice about it...but havnt got any reply yet..

thanks in advance

rice doesn't give financial aid to foreign applicants.
it only gives merit and academic scholarships.

it says so here : Financial Aid at Rice University

"..Rice University will offer need-based financial aid to a limited number of international undergraduate applicants entering Fall 2009. Citizens of foreign countries who apply under Regular Decision and request need-based aid will be reviewed as a separate group.."

I think you need to submit all documents you have mentioned if you are applying for need-based financial aid.
International Financial Aid application, International certification of finance, and rice international student financial statement. yeah so all three.

International students fall into two pools.
-The ones who do not request financial aid. (They will join the regular pool)
-The ones who request financial aid. (They will be placed in their own pool, competing for money Rice gives)

You are correct, Rice does give money to internationals, but it is very competitive.

sorry I misread your question

i have the same problem as well. since i'm applying for aid, it means i will not have enough money to support myself, why am i required to certify the 50k then?

oh yea, is CSS profile required as well?
