Is Brown generous in giving aid to international students ?? Will applying ED increase the chances of getting in with aid ??

Brown meets 100% of need for all admitted students, although you should run financial aid calculators to determine what colleges consider full need. However, Brown is need aware for admission for international students, which means that an international student who needs a lot of financial aid might be denied. From the Brown website:

Brown meets full demonstrated need of all admitted students who have applied for financial aid. Financial aid for foreign citizens, however, is limited. If you wish to be considered for financial aid at any time during your four years at Brown, you should apply at the time of admission. All financial aid at Brown is awarded solely on the basis of financial need, which is determined annually by our analysis of applications submitted by students and their families.

If you need financial aid, most people would advise you NOT to apply ED. You need to apply RD and compare financial aid packages. Yes ED acceptance rates are higher, but a lot of that comes from the acceptance of hooked students, like athletes and legacies.

My guess is that as an international student, if you have something Brown really wants, then you will get in with a good financial aid package.
