On the form, it states "International students not requesting need-based financial aid must prove ability to finance their education at Rice; those requesting need-based financial aid must give information on their family financial status." Should I interpret this as saying that I should write however much my family and I can pay? Because later on in the chart it says "Sum of the columns should total $50,000," so if I'm applying for financial aid, I'm still suppose assure that much?
Sorry for the paranoid questions. I just don't want to either not get financial aid because I said I can pay all $50,000 or not have my application considered if I say I can't pay all the tuition.

we’re on the same boat! IMO, the way they constructed this source of support makes NO sense. it just ticks me off every time i attempt to finish this form. anyhow, i’m guessing we just have to be honest about it.

couldn’t have said it better myself.

anybody willing to clear this up for us two?

Rice is being careful with international students. Internationals are different from American students since internationals need to show enough financial support to the American Embassy in order to get a student visa to come to school here. I suggest you just being honest in filling this form. If you need financial assistance, you shall just put down the amount that you need as financial aid needed from Rice.

If you are applying for financial aid, the only document that you have to sent in is the International Student Financial Aid Application from Collegeboard. International Student Financial Statement is for those NOT applying for financial aid.

I’m international student at Rice. That’s what I was told when I applied.

Ok I really don’t understand this stupid statement. I’m clearly asking for financial aid, but why are they asking me to tell them I can pay them 50k? Can anyone who filled this out already help me? PM please!!!
