<p>Many of the upperclassmen in my school have warned me that some colleges (eg. Columbia and UPenn) only like to accept internationals who do not require aid. Is this really the case?</p>
<p>It is very difficult for international students to get financial aid. Some colleges and universities will only admit the international students that can pay their own way, or that there is financial aid for. These places are called “need sensitive” for international admissions.</p>
<p>If you are going to need aid, you need to visit the Financial Aid Forum (there is a link on the left-hand side of this screen), and read the first thread at that forum. It will give you a lot of information about financial aid for international students.</p>
