Give me some advice
Thanks

Where are you applying? I can’t say you don’t have a chance at this school, or you’ll definitely in this school, if you don’t tell me where you want to go.

Given your mathematics/science scores (all perfect or quasi-perfect) you could get into CalTech if you have some extracurricular involvement. I would take the SAT again, try to improve the critical reading, writing is okay. Low critical reading will give some really biased admissions reps the impression you can’t speak English, (b/c you’re from China) which is not good.

Also, look at some of the UC’s (i.e. UC Berkley, UCLA, UCSD, Cal) you might have a more realistic shot a getting in. Things are different for international applicants.

Thanks! CR is so tough for me. I will take it again on 12/05/2009. It is kind of hard for me to improve…I have awards for IT, Chemsitry and Physics…I was in the drama club, chorus team, instrumental club, etc.I have been the leading actor in 2 school dramas, the director in 1 school dramas. I have highest level certificate in Piano. I really like CA. I guess UC is one of my choices…

Man, you sound like such a match for CalTech (790 Math, 800 Math 2, 800 Chemistry, 800 Physics, awards for IT, Chemistry, and Physics).

However, CalTech is one of the most selective schools in America. They only enroll a few hundred freshman every year, compared to a couple of thousand freshman at most American universities.

Really think you would be a good match for any of the UC schools. You’re bilingual, a math/sci genius, with ec’s in drama and music. Congratulations on doing well in high school, and learning English. Learning Spanish and French is hard enough for me, I can’t imagine learning English as a Chinese-speaker (or sinophone if you want to sound smart).
