International student got waitlisted due to his contribution, advice??

As the title said, i got a waitlist letter from one of my top choice, an LAC in the middle of top 100. I truly believe that the only reason was simply because of my 5k dollar contribution. 1/3 of the email was about finance; they repeated the total cost of their school, their limited available FA. The cost is about 45k anyway @_@, so what is the least reasonable number in my case? how much should i add to increase my chance? plzz help

I got waitlists from 3 LACs and a top uni…all cuz i guess da aid probx dese days…=(…dunno wot to do now…

Toughest year for international students

levesque, if you are in fact able to pay significantly more and have withheld that information from them, that is not going to be a strong argument in your favor.

I would certainly not admit someone who tried to rip the college off for scarce FA $$ that needs to go to people who really need the money.

If you are saying that you could scrape up another $500, I doubt that would make any difference. If the school wanted you, they would have admitted you and offered however much they could afford, leaving the decision up to you.

I agree with Consolation. Totally.
