I need help choosing what schools to apply to. After receiving my October SAT scores I gave up on all my dream schools like UPenn, USC, Cal and Notre Dame. Now, I need help on making a new list of 'reachable' schools.

I'm planning on taking up business and I really really need financial aid or a scholarship. My parents can only contribute around $14k or less.

A few things I want:
-preferably in California or in the West coast (not very important)
-no LACs please
-active sports teams
-lots of students living on campus

My profile:

SAT: 600 CR/750 M/ 630 W (superscored) - I'm not sure if I should take the SAT II's this December or retake I's again

GPA/Class rank: School does not provide

EC's:
Basketball Varsity 10, 11
Softball Intramurals 10, 11, 12
Math team 9, 10, 11, 12
Austalian Math Competition (top 15% in the country) 9, 10, 11
Excellence in Advanced Algebra
Excellence in Spanish
Program for Excellence in Mathematics 10, 12
Table Tennis Club 9
Computer Club 10 (treasurer), 11
Math Club 12 (vice president)
Class Treasurer 9
School representative for Leadership training/Peace conference 9, 11
Lots of community service

your sat scores aren't too bad bb4 so you shouldn't give up all hope. i am in the same position as you are in with regards to finances. the thing is LACs do tend to give substantial aid awards to internationals. not every LAC is as small as Williams and some colleges have a few thousand students on campus.

i think you shouldn't give up hope either... your high school record can make up for less than stellar SATs.. plus sometimes US colleges know internationals don't have the same kind of prep for sats so theres less emphasis on it. maybe u can try taking in dec and jan too ( some colleges allow for latest jan date if your country has the sats then)

some state university maybe university of texas, university of washington, and also university of virginia. So yea, just aply to some of the state university and your score is really really good, its not bad, you could probably get into upenn actually. I don't know, but good luck!
