International Student looking for full ride

@koreanstudent I was wondering how you got a full ride to St. Mary’s. I went through their site and they don’t have need based aid for internationals and I couldn’t find a full ride merit based scholarship. I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what you did exactly to get a full ride there cause I am an international student applying there and I have significant financial need. Thanks:)

@Tiainternational Hi, I was initially offered about a 50% ride by St. Mary’s upon my admission, but the admissions officer who gave me my interview strongly encouraged me to apply for the Grehey Scholars (mightve spelled that wrong) which was an application-based merit scholarship for a full ride (including books, meal plans, absolutely everything) for business major students. I applied in December and heard back around April. I ended up turning down StMU’s offer, but it is quite an opportunity for students who need aid. I believe this specific scholarship was for business majors only, but it was open for international students and they offer it to many students each year. There may also be similar opportunities for different majors if you aren’t thinking about business, so I strongly recommend sending them an email about your interest. Good luck!!

^can you specify which St Mary’s it was?

@koreanstudent thanks so much for the info! I will contact them. @MYOS1634 I believe its the one in Texas

Hey guys. Two updates. The bad news first: Yesterday, I was rejected from Emory Scholars.

The good news: I’m a finalist for the Lafayette Marquis Fellowship. I’d pick Lafayette over Emory anyway so I’m so so happy.

I will keep updating as I get more decisions.

Wish you the best luck gigichuck!

Yeah, Emory is very financially stringent with international students. I am not surprised.

Who cares about the bad news when the good news is so good! Fingers crossed for you, gigichuck!

Congratulations on the Marquis finalist place! Impressive
And Paul is right: Emory is very stingy with internationals. Their loss!

Congrats!
Lafayette is a great school. I hope you will be selected as a finalist!
I also applied there as an international student right before the deadline but haven’t heard back yet…
Got into another college with almost full
ride but hope to hear from Lafayette, I really loved their programs.

@interapp what college is that if u dont mind me asking?

Updates:
I took many hits this past week.

  • Was not selected as a Semifinalist for the Belks at Davidson
    -Wasn’t a Semifinalist for the Robertson’s
-Did not get invited to NYUAD Candidate Weekend
-Got a Possible from Wellesley Early Evaluation

I’m happy about that last one though I expected to get an Unlikely.

Anything from Lafayette?

@paul2752 I’m completing the Alternative Assessment since I couldn’t afford to go to campus. I have essays and an interview next week and then we’ll see

@Barekk Columbia College, MO - selected for their Presidential Scholarship

I got waitlisted at Whitman. What a start to March.

It ain’t a no aye , its gonna be alright

One waitlist doesn’t mean anything, I am sure there will be lots of acceptances:)

Rejected at MIT.

Oh well… their loss. :frowning: I’m sorry for you and for them.
