<p>Hello, I'm a high school student from Colombia, my graduation is really soon, I've done really great at my school, my grades are excellent, I'm part of the students council and also of the debate club, I participate constantly in Model UN's (MUN) in my city and in several places around my country, I have great skills in english, as my second language, a medium proficiency in French and German. I have also written several newspaper articles and participated in oratory contests.
Since I started participated in debate activities and events, I started to like it so much, I'd like my life to involve them, but I also love the UN, it is a dream of mine, to do even an internship there, the sense that global issues involves is just something I want to dedicate my life for. Business motivates me as well, globalization, wall street, thats a world I want my life to relate to. My mother used to be narrow-minded about this, she insisted on me to go to a national school and later start graduate studies in the usa, but I've convinced her, my dreams are in America. Apparently a career in economics is the most suitable for my goals. I'm aware that I must take the SAT's, by the way, my school is a bilingual one, so we take the TOEFL as a requisite to graduate from high school, as well as an A2 DELF.
Let's get straight, I want to attend an Ivy, because of their prestige and the chances of settling up in the US. The research I've done so far led me to the following: Some of them like Harvard, Yale or Princeton are more suitable for graduate studies and research. Columbia is located in NYC, so I'd have access to the world of international relations and globalization but I've seen in Dartmouth something that catches my attention: the D-Plan and the supportive community environment, according of what I've read, Dartmouth is also located on a quiet town, with nice scenarios and again, the D-Plan. I write you folks to listen carefully to what you have to say, please clear up my mind about these schools, if I'm wrong, tell me which more suits my aspirations, I'm open to all your suggestions.
Hope ya'll having a great day,
Best wishes.
Joshua.
