A "hook" is sort of a slang word for 'something that will get you into college'. A hook can be a huge award, a leadership position, etc.</p>

<p>I can't tell you which schools are reaches/matches/safeties, but I do know that scholarships for international students are limited. They are out there, just harder to get.</p>
<p>Also, have you ever seen a math SAT portion? There are lots (mostly) of word problems; if you are not good at interpreting word problems, don't expect such a high score. The SAT also has a new part to it: writing.</p>
<p>You should probably study grammar/writing skills to raise your scores in the other two areas. Good luck.</p>
<p>Mayflower, you may want to look into schools that are generous with aid. Penn, BC, Syracuse and Georgetown are not known for their generosity, so I would forget about them. </p>
<p>What is your intended field of study. I recommend Dartmouth, MIT, Princeton, Harvard and most LACs. At least they offer good scholarships to a large portion of their international students.</p>

<p>Not really. Cornell and Penn only give aid to 10%-15% of their international students. Columbia, Brown and Yale give out aid to fewer than 50% of their international students. Dartmouth, Harvard and Princeton give aid to over 60% of their international students. MIT gives aid to almost 100% of their international students.</p>

yes it does mean a final grade, but it is the grade that determine which high school you go(high school entrance test)
i just took a practise test from the official SAT, verbal 620-690 math 800 i will be focusing on writing in the rest of my time...
i am good at maths and science, but i enjoy studying psy and political science. SU has an excellent Marxwell school that i could study social sercuirty..., an urgent need for china..but it is so true that the schools i like have few scholarship...</p>

<p>I really can't tell without your standardized test scores. They determine a big part of your competence in an applicant pool, especially for international students. I'll give it a try, though.</p>
