International student, norway.

Hi guys.

As the topic states I'm an international student, from Norway, looking to pursue my dream of going to college.

I'm not really sure how the colleges translate my grades from norwegian to american, or if they perhaps weighten my SAT score over my gpa.

I graduated with a 4.0 out of 6.0 norwegian GPA (there was no graduates in my school that graduated with a gpa of 5.5 or higher, and i went to a really good and competitive school) and after doing some research i found out this would translate into a 3.0ish GPA (I'm not sure if this actually is the case, though). I got a 1900 on my SAT the first time I took it but at my second try im really confident in exceeding a 2000 score.

I like partying, people, and socialising. Also, my family got deep pockets so money is not an issue, if that matters.

So what im looking for is some advice. Where do I have a realistic shot at getting in? What schools would you recommend (that i have a shot at getting in to)? Also, I would appreciate any information in general you got about the admission of international students.

There are many colleges which would be happy to have you. Try College Board’s college search where you can choose schools by different criterion. Pay attention to the middle 50% SAT - to get in you most probably need your SAT to fall into the range.

You can get in a lot of colleges!
You should refine a bit your search, like what other is important for you? Greek life?Party scene? Any sport? Should your school be big or small?

CC’s college search has an option where you can put your scores and see what you’d probabily get in.
