International Student rather confused about where to apply

I have about 15 universities in mind but I'm told I should only apply to six or seven so I need to narrow down my choices.

Here are details about me which will help you assess my chances:

I was born in India but I've been living in Singapore for the past 15 years

I'm currently studying in an Indian international school

Applying to business schools mostly. I intend to major in Business Management or Marketing.

Not applying for any kind of financial aid

ACADEMICS:
- SATs: 2010 (CR/M/W = 700/660/650)
- SAT II: Lit 600, Math Level 1 620 (I'm definitely not the brightest when it comes to SATs)
- Scored 90% overall for 10th Grade board exams
- I'm ranked first in my entire class for 11th grade and also 12th grade mid-years
- I think the teachers are predicting a 90%+ for my 12th Grade board exams
- I have subject proficiencies in all my subjects... Eng, Lit, Accountancy, Commerce, Econs, BStudies, Environmental Education, French
- I'm taking a course/degree outside of school. I'm pursuing the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) qualification offered by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and I have cleared papers 1, 2, 3 and 4 with 86%, 90%, 76% and 84% respectively.

I probably haven't listed everything, but these are the important things.

UNIVERSITIES/COLLEGES (in no particular order):
1) Babson College
2) Bentley Uni
3) Boston College
4) Boston Uni
5) Emory Uni
6) Fordham Uni
7) NYU - really keen about this one
8) Northeastern Uni (this one has free application for EA, which I'm doing)
9) UVA - really keen about this one
10) University of Michigan
11) Indiana Uni @ Bloomington
12) University of Texas-Austin
13) Villanova Uni
14) UNC at Chapel Hill
15) University of Notre Dame

I probably have some really good ones which I might not be able to get into, but I just want to reconfirm anyway, since I don't have too much knowledge regarding the admission trends (besides my Barrons' college guidebook).

Thanks in advance!

One more thing to add on (since I can’t seem to edit anymore)

Received ‘Friend of Singa’ Certificate for courtesy in 2006. Received ‘Friend of Singa’ Award for courtesy in 2008 (National Level)

Also, my teachers and counselor will write me great recommendations. My essay is a little on the city-girl-realises-she-loves-India-even-though-she-doesn’t-know-it-too-well side.

help :)

Help, anyone?

It’s lucky that you don’t need FA. You should be able to get into some of those schools. I think that UT-Austin will be tough, since they prefer in-state applicants. BC and Notre Dame are very selective, as is NYU if you are applying to the business school.

Could you specify which schools I should be able to get into? I’m more concerned about the good ones…

I thought UTAustin was relatively easy when I saw the requirements in the Barron’s college guidebook. I guess I was wrong! :/

Am I not a strong candidate for NYU Stern? :(

NYU should be a match for you.

^Thanks, I hope so!

Any others who can ‘chance’ me? :]

From research by me and my dad over a year on business schools + advice from pro’s and information on schools on their websites
We have similar school list btw…cool!
With your stats in USA, you’ll be competative, but since you’re competing with brains from all over the globe, it’s indubitably tougher for ya.

3) Boston College - high match - reach(business)
4) Boston Uni -match
5) Emory Uni - reach
7) NYU - high match/stern - reach(yeah its stern…)
8) Northeastern Uni - match
9) UVA - reach because OOS/International/business skool(Double whammie)
10) University of Michigan - reach for same reason + top business school
11) Indiana Uni @ Bloomington - match
12) University of Texas-Austin - match
13) Villanova Uni - reach
14) UNC at Chapel Hill - OOS/International reach
15) University of Notre Dame - reach for any major

Sorry, I don’t think I understand this too well, but ‘reach’ means that I stand a slight chance? Like it’s worth a try?

Oh, which ones are you applying to? :)

One more activity; photography club (President).

helpppp

I would chance others if I knew a lot myself. :/

bump, i’m really sorry i have to do this, but EA deadlines soon! :[

bump again…

help please!

im doing bc/nyu/emory/notre dame. And yes, reach means slight chance where as match is more chance and safety is pretty much garaunteed

Other opinions…?
