International student seeking for FA

I am very interested to see where you think I said OP won’t be eligible for admissions to those schools, because all I see is that I DOUBT op will get accepted to the highly selective schools he’s looking at, much less receive significant merit aid given the intense international competition and the home country.

Those highly competitive schools are just that…highly competitive. The OP certainly looks like he/she is a competitive candidate for the schools on the list. But so are most of the 90% or so of the students who do NOT get accepted at those schools.

With stats like the OP is posting, looking at some less competitive options with guaranteed aid for international students with those stats would be a wise thing to do.

I have talked about it with my parents …
I found out that the scholarship from my dad`s company is just under 10k.
It does not add to the family contribution, though. The payment does not go directly to the university but we receive the money after we send the receipt of the tuition and other fees to the company.

But the thing is, my dad will probably be retiring from work next year and he us the only person contributing to the family income.
Would that change the amount of aid that I would be receiving?
Family income as of now is around 100k …

I have already several safety schools at home…
I want to attend a liberal arts college (institution with emphasis on undergraduate education) and want to major in mathematics … I am in the process of researching for schools … any ideas?

*Somebody told me majoring mathematics in a LAC is not a good idea; why is this so ?

Ahem…yes your dad’s company money DOES factor into financial aid at most colleges. You are REQUIRED to inform the school of ANY scholarship monies you receive from outside sources.
