I'm an international student who just got accepted by a really good college in the States , but because of the different education system ,I mistakenly thought the tuition fee was all I have to pay for the first year while I was applying to the college . I thought my family could afford that and I really didn't want the need of FA affect my chance of getting into that college , so as a result I didn't apply for any FA aid .
However , when I got the admission package ( I was so excited when I got that ) , I found out that I was wrong , and the total amount of money my family has to pay is more than $50,000 ! I really want to go there , it was like I know that when I first saw the college ,but I can't just let my famliy give up or sacrifice everything for my education . So I decided to call the FA office ,and ready to provide everything that could prof my mom's income and property . but before I call I want to know :
1. Will this phone call affect the college's decision ? I mean will they just reject me after my call asking for FA ?
2. Is there any chance that I could still apply for FA ?

Please help me if you know anything about my questions !!!!! I really like that school , and I really want to go there to study .
I've read many posts and threads talking about almost the same situation as I'm in right now , I do have safty schools with FA , but this college is the place that I really want to go , so I'll only turn to the safety schools after I make sure that I have done everything I could to go there .
Thanks for everyone that is willing to help , and I hope every student could get into schools they want to go !

They’re definitely not going to reject you, so I’d suggest calling them. Worst case scenario: they wouldn’t give you any FA. But they wouldn’t reject you.

They won’t reject you, but getting aid at this point as an international is unlikely. Very few schools are need blind to internationals, I think it’s only eight. If it’s one of these schools chances are much better. But as you seem to know, the need for aid is taken into consideration when accepting most internationals. This year colleges are having a very hard time balancing aid budgets. If you were accepted as a full pay chances are they will say no.

Since it seems like it was just room and board you were unaware of, it’s probably possible to pay most of that through summer work, a job on campus and a small loan. The school might help ypu with the loan.

From your post, you have been admitted to a school with every limited aid for internationals students (meaning your ability to pay full freight was a factor in your admissions).

your school states the following:

it is probably going to be very hard for you to get aid after the fact. All you can do is try, hope for the best, should you get aid it will be a pleasant suprise, but highly unlikely.

they have probably already decided which of the few internationals they are going to offer their money to. You can call/write, but don’t get your hopes up.

also realize that costs will most likely increase over the 4 year period
